Did you know radishes are cruciferous vegetables? Cruciferous vegetables are a family of nutritious veggies: and the related veg might surprise you. Did you know that radishes are related to cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, kale, and arugula? This means that radishes share all the nutrition benefits of cruciferous vegetables. Here are a few things about these tasty veggies that make them especially nutritious:

Types of radishes
All the radish recipes use the most common type of radishes: round radishes! But there are several other types that you might come across that are tasty too. Here are a few of the more common types:
Round radishes: This is the most common type, pictured above!Watermelon radishes: These large radishes are green on the outside and pink on the inside, hence the name! Snap some up if you find them: thinly sliced they add a beautiful garnish to any dish. Daikon radishes: Also called Chinese white radishes, they’re often pickled, braised, or used in soups. Black radishes: A beautiful variety, these radishes have a black exterior and white interior! They’re fun to cook with because of their unexpected color.
