I love making desserts in my air fryer, like my air fryer donuts, air fryer cookies, or air fryer cinnamon rolls. My air fryer is probably the most well-worn tool in the kitchen, and recently, I’ve been experimenting with making my favorite desserts! That’s where these fudgy brownies come in. They’re as easy to make as a mug brownie, but you can make up to four at once. The texture is gooey and soft, with crinkly tops and pools of half-melted chocolate.
Why I love this recipe
Ready in 6 minutes. A few minutes of prep time and only 4-5 minutes in the air fryer. Naturally milk-free and egg-free. Plus, they’re easy to make gluten-free, too. The perfect small batch dessert. This recipe makes just 2 large or 4 small brownies. Hello, portion control! Truly made from scratch. There is a time and a place for box brownies mix–just not today. Easy to customize. Like any good brownie recipe, you can add your own mix-ins to make them uniquely yours.
Ingredients needed
All-purpose flour. Sifted first to remove clumps. Use gluten-free flour with added xanthan gum if needed. Sugar. I prefer white sugar, but brown or coconut sugar work. Cocoa powder. I used unsweetened, Dutch-processed cocoa powder for a smoother chocolate flavor. Sift it along with the flour to remove clumps. Salt. Amplifies the other ingredients. Oil. Use any neutral-flavored oil. Unsweetened applesauce. Cuts down on the fat while keeping the brownies extra fudgy. Water OR milk. I tested water and unsweetened almond milk, and I didn’t notice any difference in flavor or texture. Vanilla extract. A must for any good brownie. Chocolate chips. For extra chocolate flavor.

Arman’s recipe tips
Make standard brownies. Pour the batter into a greased 6-inch round cake pan and increase the air frying time to 10 minutes. Don’t let the brownies cool in the basket. If you leave them in the air fryer, the heat from the base will overcook them. Add some mix-ins. Whisk in fresh berries, walnuts, sprinkles, or white chocolate chips.
Storage instructions
To store: Leftover brownies should be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days or in the fridge for up to one week. To freeze: Remove the brownies from the ramekin and freeze them in a freezer-safe container for up to two months.
