Love fun air fryer recipes? Try my air fryer bagel bites, air fryer potstickers, air fryer biscuits, and air fryer donuts next. I may be an adult, but pizza rolls hold a very special place in my heart. Instead of the unhealthy frozen ones, I make my air fryer pizza rolls recipe. Yes, you read that correctly! It’s faster than the oven, and contrary to popular belief, they are SO easy to make from scratch.

Why I love this recipe

No frozen pizza rolls required. Traditional air-fried pizza rolls use frozen pizza rolls (like Totino’s pizza rolls or Annie’s), but not my ones- they are made from scratch!  4 Ingredients only. You only need homemade pizza dough (2 ingredients), sauce, and cheese.  Easy to customize. Like any good pizza out there, the base recipe acts as a blank canvas. You can add your favorite toppings, meats, and vegetables.  Healthy enough to snack on. My dough is higher in protein, and there’s added fiber, too, so you can feel good enjoying one or two as a snack between meals.  Perfect texture. You get a chewy and fluffy crust, while the inside is perfectly saucy and cheesy.

Ingredients needed

Pizza dough. You have the option of either making my Greek yogurt dough or 2-ingredient pizza dough. Both use a combination of self-rising flour and Greek yogurt. Pizza sauce. I love using homemade marinara sauce (either my pomodoro sauce or sugo), but store-bought ones will work just as well.  Cheese. Shredded. I use a mix of mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese. If you can, I highly recommend shredding the cheese by hand because it melts SO much better. Pizza toppings. I usually keep things simple with some fresh basil, but add your favorite pizza toppings like pepperoni, mushrooms, chicken, olives, etc. Milk or olive oil. Optional, but I like to brush the top of the pizza rolls for a chewy and firm crust.

How to make pizza rolls in the air fryer

Arman’s recipe tips

If your dough is too thin (wet), add more flour to compensate. This can sometimes happen depending on the yogurt you choose. Air fry in batches. The pizza rolls should always be in a single layer in the air fryer basket. If needed, air fry a few at a time. Do not go heavy-handed with the toppings, or else they will seep out as they air fry, and the base will be slightly undercooked. Air fry on parchment paper, so clean up is a breeze, and there is no risk of the dough sticking to the air fryer basket.

Storage instructions

To store: Homemade pizza rolls should be stored in an airtight container in the fridge. They will keep for up to 5 days.

Make them vegan. Use dairy-free yogurt (like coconut yogurt) and plant-based cheese.  Make the gluten-free. Use gluten-free self-rising flour (like Dove Farms), and be sure the pizza sauce is certified gluten-free.  Create dessert pizza rolls. Replace the sauce with homemade Nutella and add crushed nuts, berries, or other fruit.  Cut the carbs. Use a keto pizza dough for the base and bake it as normal.

To freeze: Place the pizza rolls in a ziplock bag and store in the freezer for up to 6 months.  Reheating: Place the rolls in the basket and air fry for 2 minutes, until crisp around the edges.
