Let’s see… First of all, it’s a very basic recipe. That means, you can customize it any way you want. You’ve endless options like adding meat, hiding veggies etc. Second, if you want a smooth texture, you can cook the sauce for longer time.
Yield: 4 Basic Tomato Pasta Sauce | Marinara Sauce Print A basic version of tomato pasta sauce. Prep Time 5 minutes Cook Time 20 minutes Total Time 25 minutes Ingredients 2 x 400g (2 cans) diced tomatoes 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 onion, roughly chopped 4-5 garlic pods, peeled and chopped 1/4 cup basil or parsley leaves, roughly chopped Salt to taste 2-3 cups cooked pasta, to serve Instructions Place a large frying pan over medium heat. Heat olive oil. Fry garlic until the raw smell disappears. Fry onion until soft. Add the tomatoes along with ½ cup of water, and bring the sauce to a boil. Simmer for 5-10 minutes. Add in the chopped basil or parsley, and leave it to simmer for few minutes. When done, season with salt and ground black pepper.Serve with cooked pasta. Garnish with grated cheese just before serving. Notes If you are using fresh tomatoes, do not use the skin.
