The chicken pieces are first marinated with spices and then tossed in spiced flour before deep frying to golden perfection. The crazy tip to making the best fried chicken? Dip the marinated flour coated chicken in water before tossing in flour again. Isn’t that so simple?
Crispy Fried Chicken Recipe
First, marinate chicken. A simple mixture of minced garlic, soy sauce, dried oregano, smoked paprika and ground black pepper is used to marinate chicken. I highly recommend marinating chicken pieces for at least 2 hours. You can even do this a day ahead and let the chicken absorb all the flavors overnight in the refrigerator. Double coating with flour for double crunch – the simple technique for the best crispy fried chicken. The process is pretty straightforward. Coat the chicken with flour, then dip in water and transfer straight back into flour for a second coating. Again, do not replace water with egg, milk or any other ingredient. Just use water, you will be totally amazed. To make the coating flavorful, you can also add a couple of seasonings like smoked paprika and dried oregano. If you love heat, add cayenne pepper. Adding some corn flour (cornstarch) to the mixture will also help with the crunch factor. Finally, deep fry. Make sure you fry over medium heat so the chicken is cooked through. Deep frying is the perfect way to achieve the best crunch. However, you can also bake or air fry for a healthier version.
