There’s something so satisfying about indulging in a sugar loaded sweet treat occasionally. Whether it’s a simple homemade treat or a decadent layered pastry from your favorite bakery, a little sweetness is a must to celebrate special occasions. But sometimes, classic recipes require lots of effort and patience. Of course, such recipes are fun but an easy version is your best friend when you are too busy. This easy motichoor lad recipe makes the process of creating classic Indian sweets easier. Traditionally, these ladoos are made with crushed boondis. However, I have incorporated a hack to make it easy for you. The crushed boondis are sautéed with sugar syrup and then rolled into balls to make the ladoos.
Easy Motichoor Ladoo Recipe
Make boondis – The key ingredient in this recipe is chickpea or gram flour making this a great gluten free sweet treat. Start with sifting the flour into a bowl. Add water gradually and make smooth, lump-free batter. Traditionally, to make boondis, you will need to use a ladle or container with holes to drip the batter into oil. But, in this recipe, we are going to add thin layers of batter into the hot oil to make long strands of boondi. This process actually makes this ladoo prep really easy. When the boondi strands come out of the oil, crush them to a coarse powder in a food processor. Sugar syrup boondi mixture – As with most Indian sweets, we are going to make sugar syrup which is a classic combo of sugar and water. And then, it’s flavored with ground cardamom. Add the boondi mixture into the sugar syrup and cook for a few minutes to achieve the right ‘rolling’ consistency. Make motichoor ladoos – The final step is rolling out little balls. Even though orange is the classic color of motichoors, you can make simple yellow ladoos without any additives. And don’t forget to decorate the ladoos with your favorite chopped nuts.
