It’s green, it’s healthy, but no joke: everyone we’ve served it to simply raves about it! So much so that we hear the refrain: “Can you make that pea dip again?” It’s one of our favorite party dip recipes because it’s easy, healthy, and delicious. Even self-avowed pea haters love it! Blend up green peas and cilantro with a bit of salse verde and it’s pure magic as a party snack. Serve it with tortilla chips or pita chips and your guests will park themselves in front of the bowl.

How to make pea dip

Credit for this very tasty pea dip goes to my sister’s mother-in-law (or, my brother-in-law’s mother?). Either way, Laury lives in Alaska and is an all-around fantastic person. On a trip to Alaska (where I caught my first fish), she served us this green pea dip. And the entire family was hooked! Here’s Alex and my take on that recipe. The premise is so simple, it barely needs explaining:

Thaw a bag of frozen peas. Throw those green peas into a blender or food processor with a few handfuls of cilantro and a jar of salsa verde. Blend it together into a beautiful green puree!

What results is a fresh green pea dip that even cilantro and pea haters pledge their love to! Promise, it’s happened at our house multiple times. This recipe one of our go-to’s for entertaining and one of our favorite green pea recipes. It also works for a wide variety of diets: vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free. We’ve held onto it for too long not to share!

The best way to store cilantro?

Cilantro is a main ingredient in this green pea dip, so we thought we’d share our favorite cilantro tip. Maybe you’ve had it happen: you buy cilantro, put it in a plastic bag in the grocery, and then throw it into your crisper drawer in the refrigerator. You open the drawer the next day and the cilantro has already started to turn into some sort of blackish molded version of itself. (You feeling us?) What’s the best way to store cilantro? An herb saver! We love this herb saver that keeps herbs fresh for a few weeks! Simply place the fresh herb bunches in water and close the top. Here’s the herb saver we use. Love cilantro?
