When it comes to Indian food, without a doubt, the Indian style cottage cheese or paneer always get a lot of attention. Honestly, I love every version of paneer I’ve made including paneer butter masala and chili paneer. Not to mention, the vegetarian sausage rolls with paneer as the star ingredient. I know that you also love the spicy paneer tikka featuring paneer marinated in spicy marinade and grilled to perfection. It’s totally delicious, for sure. Apart from the spicy marinade used in this grilled tikka, there are other ways to make super delicious marinade for paneer tikka. The soft paneer easily absorbs any flavor added to it, and this hariyali (green) paneer tikka is no exception. The green marinade literally manages to add a touch of green goodness to this paneer tikka. The lovely green combo of coriander (cilantro) leaves and mint leaves along with an array of spices is beyond amazing. The marinade for this hariyali paneer tikka comes together in a matter of minutes. Just blend together coriander (cilantro) leaves, mint leaves, ginger, garlic and green chilies to make a smooth paste. This coriander (cilantro) paste is then combined with yogurt, lemon juice, ground turmeric, ground coriander, ground cumin, red chili powder, garam masala, chat masala and rice flour to add extra flavor. Now, marinate paneer cubes with the green paste for about 30 minutes. Just before grilling, thread them onto skewers. If you’re using bamboo skewers, I highly recommend you soak them for about 20 minutes. This will definitely stop them from burning. It’s all about the appearance. The classic cheese used in this hariyali paneer tikka is firm enough to hold its shape while cooking, and retains the soft, melt-in-mouth texture. Like the spicy paneer tikka, this also makes for an amazing appetizer, or just turn on the grill for a quick snack or light meal.

Prep Time 15 minutes Cook Time 15 minutes Total Time 30 minutes Ingredients Coriander paste: 1” fresh ginger, roughly chopped 4 garlic cloves, chopped 3 small green chilies, chopped 3/4 cup mint leaves 1 cup coriander (cilantro) leaves Marinade: 1 tbsp yogurt 1/8 tsp ground turmeric (turmeric powder) 1/4 tsp ground coriander (coriander powder) 1/4 tsp ground cumin (cumin powder) 1/2 tsp red chili powder 1/4 tsp garam masala 1 tsp rice flour or all purpose flour 1/2 tsp chat masala Salt to taste Paneer tikka: 200 g paneer, cut into cubes 1 cup diced onions 9 bamboo skewers, soaked in water for 20 minutes Instructions Coriander paste:Place ginger, garlic, green chilies, mint leaves and coriander (cilantro) leaves in a food processor. Add a little water if needed. Process to a smooth paste. Set aside.Marinade:Place coriander paste, lemon juice, ground turmeric, ground coriander, ground cumin, red chili powder, garam masala, rice flour and chat masala in a large bowl. Season with salt. Stir to combine.Add paneer cubes. Marinate for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.Hariyali paneer tikka:Preheat grill to medium-high heat.Thread paneer cubes and diced onions onto the bamboo skewers. Leave a 1-inch gap on top of the skewers. Grill skewers for 5-10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
