In fact, when the hot summer weather arrives, ice cold drinks become your best friend. Am I right? I totally love the calorie loaded classic milkshakes. But I love them more when converted into healthy zero calorie drinks. There’s no better feeling knowing that you can enjoy your favorite drink without adding more calories to your diet. This dark chocolate milkshake recipe is clearly the best way to add a healthy twist to your favorite classic chocolate milkshake. Think of dark cocoa powder, almond milk and frozen bananas. Trust me, the combo is ahhmazzing! This milkshake is super easy to make. The key ingredient that’s going to make it rich and thick just like regular milkshake is frozen banana. Yes, banana is the secret ingredient of this recipe. If you’ve frozen bananas on hand, you can easily whip up a quick smoothie or milkshake in seconds. A clever way to include a nutrient-rich fruit in your daily diet. To freeze bananas, you’ll need to cut them into pieces, and store in a ziplock bag in the freezer. To make this dark chocolate milkshake more nutritious, I have also added almond milk. It’s a great choice if you’re vegan. Almond milk is definitely so good for you, and it’s going to make this milkshake taste great. If almond milk is not readily available, feel free to substitute with regular low fat milk and a couple of tablespoons of almonds. Even cashew nut milk is a great substitute in this recipe. The chocolate flavor and color of this milkshake comes from unsweetened dark cocoa powder. I really love the dark rich color of this milkshake which tastes great with the almond milk. I didn’t use any sweetener in this recipe, however, you can add maple syrup or honey for a healthy touch.
