Originating in Japan, the fluffy variation of humble omelette is a breakfast favorite. It has everything you love about an omelette, plus that fluffy texture. With a little care and the right recipe, you can also make the perfect Japanese style omelette with a pantry staple – eggs. And of course, a touch of salt and sugar. Let’s make souffle omelette This unique omelette is, obviously, famous for its fluffy texture. The egg whites are whipped to create the beautiful cloud-like pattern. Making this omelette is pretty straight forward. And it only takes a few minutes to cook it. Start with gathering your ingredients. You’ll need some eggs, a little salt and sugar. And of course butter to fry the eggs. The first step – separate the eggs into whites and yolks. You can do this anyway you like. I decided to go with the classic method. Make sure you don’t break the yolks when you’re separating them. Once the eggs are separated, add a pinch of salt to the yolks, and use a whisk to break them. Now onto the egg whites. Add a tiny pinch of white sugar and start whisking. Although an electric mixer makes the process much easier, feel free to use a whisk to create that fluffy texture. It’s going to take a little more time and muscle work. When the whites are whipped, they’ll be very fluffy with soft peaks. Remember not to over whip. Last but not the least – you’ll need to fold in the yolks to the whites very gently. The final step – cooking souffle omelette. Melt a little butter in a small frying pan. When it’s hot, add egg mixture, and cover with a lid immediately. The idea is to create a beautifully brown yellow base with the fluffy white cloud on top. When the top part of the omelette sets, you can fold it and serve. Remember not to overcook as the fluffy top may deflate. Believe me, this souffle omelette is absolutely delish!
