Let’s be real; when it comes to fried foods and savory appetizers, the best part of the dish is the dipping sauce. In my house, that means plenty of honey mustard. With the same sweet, tangy, bold flavor as regular honey mustard, this sugar-free version is just as satisfying—but without the guilt.
Why I love this recipe
4 ingredients. And they’re all basic kitchen pantry staples. Easy to make. There’s no simmering, chill time, nada. Just mix everything together and use it right away. Customizable. Add as much sweetener as you want, or swap the mustard for a totally different flavor. It goes with everything. From keto chicken tenders to keto onion rings to honey mustard chicken, you can use this exactly as you would regular honey mustard.
Ingredients needed
Keto honey. I use a homemade keto honey substitute that has no sugar or actual honey in it. Mayonnaise. Adds creaminess and richness to the mustard. You can omit it if you want a firmer, thicker sauce. Yellow mustard OR Dijon mustard. I prefer Dijon, as it gives it a creamier texture, but yellow mustard can also be used. White vinegar. Just a pinch to bring out the tangy flavors. Apple cider vinegar and fresh lemon juice will also work.

How to make keto honey mustard
Step 1- Combine ingredients. In a mixing bowl, whisk all the ingredients until smooth. If you want it sweeter, add extra honey. If you want it extra tangy, add more mustard. Step 2- Store. Transfer it into a sealable container or a sterilized jar.
Arman’s recipe tips
Use any type of mustard. As I mentioned, I prefer the tang and texture of Dijon mustard, but any kind will do. Just make sure it has no added sugar. Avoid using liquid stevia. I’ve tested this recipe with liquid stevia, and it made the sauce quite bitter, so stick to keto honey that’s made with sweeteners like erythritol, allulose, or monk fruit. Make a thinner sauce. To make a thinner sauce that’s better as salad dressing, thin it with unsweetened almond milk or water. Cut the fat. For lower-fat honey mustard, swap the mayonnaise for non-fat Greek yogurt and add ½ teaspoon of salt, but remember it will only stay fresh for up to 5 days. Add spices. To infuse more flavor, add one teaspoon of garlic powder or onion powder.
Storage instructions
To store: Honey mustard should be stored in the refrigerator and covered. The mustard will keep well for up to 4 weeks. You can use this sugar-free honey mustard exactly as you would regular honey mustard. Personally, I find it’s best as a dipping sauce for veggies, keto french fries, or as a sauce on a keto sandwich or burger. If you thin out the sauce, it makes a great dressing in this keto spinach bacon salad, or in place of Dijon in keto potato salad. To freeze: Place leftover honey mustard in a shallow container and store it in the freezer for up to 6 months.
