Add them alternatively so the flour mixture is incorporated into the cake batter.Next up, add in the key flavors – orange zest and orange juice. The lovely orange flavor comes from 4 large oranges in this recipe. Ideally, you’ll need approximately 1 cup of orange juice in the batter. So, you’ll need about 4-5 oranges depending on their size.Once the batter is ready, pour it into a cake tin, and bake for about 1 and 1/4 hours. If the top of the cake starts to brown before the inside cooks, cover the tin lightly with aluminum foil.Serve this Portuguese orange cake sprinkled with powdered (icing) sugar and a dollop of whipped cream.
