These days, I mostly rely on easy to cook recipes. To be exact, dishes that bring in immense flavor without too much time and effort in the kitchen. This easy puff pastry snack is such a recipe. Puff pastry pizza twists. The topping ideas are just endless! Best of all, these are a breeze to make. Easy peasy yet super flavorful. All you need to do is top pastry sheets with your favorite pizza toppings, slice, twist and bake until golden perfection.
Puff Pastry Pizza Twists Recipe
The only ingredients you will need to make these addictingly good snacks are:
Puff pastry sheets Pizza sauce Your favorite toppings ( I used pepperoni and chopped bell peppers) Cheese
The great thing about this recipe is that you can customize the dishes with whatever ingredients you have on hand. The pizza sauce I used already have all the flavorings in it including garlic and a little oregano. But I like to add more oregano to level up the flavor. If you don’t have oregano, substitute with any dried herbs like parsley, thyme or rosemary. Italian seasoning would be a perfect addition too. Pepperoni is obviously a super popular choice, so I decided to chop up some into small bits and just sprinkle it over the pastry in an even layer. The veggies, in this case bell peppers or capsicums, are totally optional. However, I really like the pops of red on the pastry. Want to make these pizza twists spicy? Add a light sprinkle of red pepper (chili) flakes. Delicious! The final ingredient is the quintessential topping of every pizza – cheese. Don’t you love the cheese pull? And to perfect the cheese pull, you will need to add grated mozzarella. Cheesy mozzarella in puff pastry is the best! Now, place the other puff pastry sheet on top of this sheet. Cut into wide strips. And twist. Some of the fillings may come out, but you can just pop them back into the pastry twists. Finally, brush with beaten egg and bake.
